Kathryn J Bowler of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada scored a hole-in-one on 08/13/07. The ace occurred on Hole 8, a par 3, 108yd hole at Trickle Creek located in Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada.
Kathryn scored the hole-in-one with a 9 Iron and had this to say about it: "Both men in our group had taken their shots on this par 3 8th hole. Both turned out beautifully, and just across the green.
This is a stunning cliff tee so we could easily look down and watch the outcome of our shots. I pictured a precise spot up shorter than the menīs shots, in the front left fringe area, and avoided the left steep slope beside the green. Unbelievably, this rank amateur hit that visualized spot dead on, and watched with shock while the ball rolled gently into the center of the hole. My girlfriend, Jan Huminiuk, was watching as the ball rolled towards that hole, and said in a VERY excited voice, "Itīs a hole-in-one!". Not in a million years did I expect that to be true.
This is serious bear country. I am sure all bears within ten miles left the area from the commotion we caused. I have never seen my husband so happy (started teaching me to play golf four years ago). Janīs husband Mike lifted me OFF my feet in a bear hug, and Janīs face was as jubilant as mine! We called back to the group coming up, asked for a wee bit of time for pictures of my "moment". I still canīt believe this really happened.
A MILLION thanks to my wonderful husband Neil who taught me to play and who taught me to expect to play well someday. He was patient while I could barely hit the ball, was proud when I started scoring less than 110, celebrated my breaking of 100, encouraging me to shoot for 90 and was there this trip when I shot 89 for the first time (Tobiano Golf course in Kamloops BC). But nothing compares to being with him at Trickle Creek in Kimberley BC, where I got this hole in one.
And thanks to WONDERFUL friends Jan and Mike Huminiuk for inviting us on another golf trip to their Rocky Mountain High locations...and being our hosts for another experience of a lifetime.
Kathryn Bowler, one damn happy camper"
